Late one night, Gari, Tieo, Cedes, and Hazel are asleep by a campfire. Gari suddenly stirs from her sleep, noticing a small, silver locket falling from Cedes's bag. She reaches out and touches it, igniting a vision of a far off princess named Nazca.
Princess Nazca hailed from the Kingdom of Pirak. At the young age of 12, Nazca experienced an invasion of her homeland by a splinter group of a secret society known as The Mayar. Their leader was a soldier of gargantuan stature with a spider Familiar named Apasanka. Fortunately, Nazca was rescued by Xalodo, the ruler of the neighboring Kingdom of Pharos. She then lived the next few years of her life as a protected noble in Pharos.
Years later, Nazca escapes her mundane life within the castle and meets a street urchin named Sette and her jackal Familiar, Asiri. The three band together to fight against The Mayar and aid those displaced by the invasion of Pirak. Collectively, they become known as The Red Orphans with their numbers growing to include an albatross Familiar named Ming Xi, a little girl named Deva, and her koala Familiar Oriban.
One of their greatest victories was a successful ambush to steal back Dragontongue, the royal sword of Pirak used by Nazca's late father.
A number of years pass again and we see Nazca traveling to meet an old friend and former lover, Gazir, to deliver her only grandson to safety. Nazca is now being hunted by Sette who has since joined The Mayar, helping them to eliminate anyone who knows of their existence and whereabouts. After handing off her grandson, Nazca is killed by Sette. During their final confrontation and unbeknownst to Sette, Nazca summons a Familiar with her dying breath. A small and noble mouse Familiar named Cedes is awakened, whose heart is ever after filled with the spirit of justice.
The visions leave Gari and her senses return. She replaces the locket and falls back asleep.
--Marshall said you can change Xalado's name. Xaladin? Deva is the person who raised Tieo and called herself his grandmother though they had no blood relation
