Cisterns are the major dwellings of the Noldor. They're deep, cylinidrical recesses in the ground with buildings carved out of their inner sides. Many Cisterns are quite wide in diameter, containing entire cities within their depths.

In the open air of Cisterns, one can often find large Veils for travel.
