The screen is blank/black. A woman and a deer walk up to an unconscious Nyota on the ground. They tell her to get up. It is Iris and Tatenen but the player doesn’t know this. When Nyota replies, the woman and deer disappear and the blank scenery comes into focus as a beach and Pino is beside Nyota. He wakes her up.

Nyota notices that her magic lantern, a gift from her mother, is missing. Nyota and Pino travel through Rototo Forest to try and find the lantern.

Nyota gets hungry and commands Pino to climb up a tree to get some fruit. Pino gets offended and walks off. Nyota becomes angry and decides the climb the tree herself.

While in the tree, she hears a strange noise. She jumps down thinking it is Pino but it’s actually the fox spirit.

She becomes scared but is saved/led away by Haji. Haji tells her there are many strange spirits and monsters wandering the forest and it is unsafe to travel alone. Nyota says she has Pino but realizes that the two have been separated. Haji joins your party.

Meanwhile, Pino realizes he is getting hungry as well. He stumbles upon a sleeping robot named Lad. Lad offers Pino food and is very friendly towards him, calling him Master Pino. Pino then sees that Lad has Nyota’s lost lantern. Lad joins Pino’s party.

The two parties travel through the forest separately.

Eventually, the group reunite, defeat a boss, and escape the forest.

The boss could be similar to the plant monster in the Evil Forest in FFIX. Except it has two faces, each facing one of the parties. The faces can be attacked normally when they appear to be asleep. When they awaken and their mouths are open, the can absorb all attacks and then shoot them back at the opposite party.

The two parties are combined.
