In the final chapter of Part I, the party make their way to an ancient tomb of a cursed queen.
The legend of tomb goes like this…
The modern day Sandsea as we know now is made of many tribes ruled by many Sultans and Sultanas who often war over who will rule. But long, long ago, the Sandsea was united as one under the rule of a great and powerful Istari queen (though the player does not know she is an Istari). One day, this queen weds her beloved, a human mage. But their marriage was a ploy. Once she let her guard down around him, he cast one of the most powerful spells in the history of the world: the first hex/curse.
The queen used all of her power and wealth to scramble to find a cure. But alas, they were too late. The queen died from the hex. She was the closest anyone has ever gotten to finding a cure. And now both the secrets of the cure and the most powerful hex spell lie within her grand tomb that sits on the border of Tipperacti and the Sandsea.
The party goes here to find the cure but Pascal is secretly trying to take the gauntlet of the Hex Mage to give to Asura.
The spirit of the Istari queen is the final boss for Part I.
The hex mage created the curse by making a pact with the squid, a most forbidden and dark magic. It is essentially making a deal with the devil. To do this pact, the squid requires a mage to give up their familiar. In exchange, the squid gives the mage “knowledge” or the power of technology that the Istari possess. The mage uses this to create the Gauntlet and curse his lover.
Meanwhile, his familiar, the fox, comes under the squid’s power and becomes this weird spirit thing and wanders the land for eternity and is attracted to/follows curses/cursed people.
