Pino “dives” into Nyota’s dream to save her.

The dream world shows Nyota’s past. As a child, Nyota often played alone because the other children on the island were mean to her. Pino sees how much Nyota was unhappy and feels bad for her. He also sees Iris, Nyota’s mother, who oddly speaks to him as if he was there.

Nyota joins Pino’s party but is a “young” version of herself, Young Nyota. She is not as strong.

The fox spirit taints many of Nyota’s memories, forcing Pino and Young Nyota to battle spooky monsters. The fox spirit also mixes in some of its memories. As the party travels through the dream world, Young Nyota grows up bit by bit (we get to see Nyota’s various age stages) until she becomes present day Nyota.

Eventually Pino and Nyota find the fox spirit and battle it, freeing it from its pain. The fox spirit reveals that it was actually the ancient curse mage’s familiar, and tells Pino and Nyota its mage’s name (a missing and key element in finding a curse cure).

Nyota wakes up from her coma and both Pino and Nyota are overjoyed to see each other. They are now more friendly towards each other and unlock their Partner Skill.
